Scotland: Ross County dent Rangers title hopes

 Ross County 3 - 2 Rangers

Ross County managed to secure their first-ever victory over Rangers, coming from behind and dealing a significant blow to the visitors' Scottish Premiership title hopes.

Despite Rangers leading at halftime thanks to Jack Baldwin's own goal, County sensed that history could be made. Simon Murray and George Harmon's strikes on the rebound turned the game on its head, and Josh Sims' close-range finish left the visitors struggling for ideas.

James Tavernier's late penalty reply was not enough for Rangers, who suffered their first away defeat in eight games since losing at Celtic Park in December.

The defeat leaves Philippe Clement's side four points adrift at the top, while County's victory narrowed the gap with St Johnstone to one point, boosting their hopes of avoiding a relegation play-off.

One YouTuber by the name of @MalTimeTV commented: "As always, the title still goes to the team that can win all of its games - but with today's result, Celtic can afford to draw in the next Old Firm at home and the title will still be in their own hands. However, it looks to me like Rangers are running out of steam at the tail end of the season while Celtic have found a second wind. I didn't see any appetite in Rangers' play at all today, not to take away from Ross County."

Best reaction

Dom, a Ross County fan, told us: "Wow, what a win for us! I'm delighted for the whole football club. It was built upon a very good team performance today. We started the second half excellently and got a bit nervous at the end."

Elliott, another fan of the home side: "It was a brilliant game. We deserved it. The players scored at good times, and they took a step back and didn't realise what happened. The atmosphere was also the best atmosphere at this ground in years."

Jamie, a Rangers fan was really annoyed with this result. He said: "The reality is that Rangers are once again struggling against Celtic, with both Michael Beale and Clement coming up short against them. This result against Ross County was another sign that maybe, we don't have it in us to win the title."
