Premier League: United and Liverpool play out another chaotic classic
Manchester United 2 - 2 Liverpool
"I genuinely feared that we'd be beaten heavily by Liverpool again. I was pleasantly surprised by the result, especially after the first 45 minutes."
Those words were sent to us by Liam, a Manchester United Season Ticket holder. He was in the Stretford End as United drew with Liverpool for the second time in the Premier League this season.
How did the drama unfold?
Liverpool missed the chance to climb to the top of the Premier League in another thrilling match at Old Trafford.
Manager Jurgen Klopp and his players will be left wondering how they failed to avenge the FA Cup quarter-final loss last month. The Anfield side missed numerous chances and were dominating the hosts for long periods.
The away side only had a Luis Diaz strike to show for almost total first-half superiority in which they had 15 shots to none from United. The United boss Erik Ten Hag would have been thankful for the visitors' wastefulness and saves from keeper Andre Onana.

Five minutes after the break, Manchester United found themselves with a chance to score when Liverpool's Jarell Quansah made a mistake and passed the ball directly to Bruno Fernandes. The United captain then scored from inside the centre circle, beating the away keeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
FA Cup: United and Liverpool play out a classic
Premier League: United battle to hold Liverpool
United take the lead, but Liverpool fight back.
Kobbie Mainoo scored his first home goal for United, putting his team ahead with a superb curling finish at the Stretford End after 67 minutes.
But Liverpool salvaged the draw, which was the least they deserved when Mohamed Salah scored from the spot with six minutes of normal time left after Aaron Wan-Bissaka lunged in late on Harvey Elliott.
Liverpool now lie second behind leaders Arsenal on goal difference, with Manchester City a point further back in third place.

Frank, a Manchester United fan, told us: "We are currently playing with injured players, which won't benefit us in the long run as these players might have to stay out for a longer period. It doesn't make sense to play Wan-Bissaka at left-back when we know that Dalot plays better in that position. Fernandes should be playing in a deeper midfield role, allowing Mainoo to play as the number 10. This change could significantly increase our chances of scoring goals."

Phil was more critical of the performance. He added: "We are currently struggling as a team. We lack structure, composure, and a solid game plan. Our opponents are averaging 20 to 30 shots per game against us, which is unacceptable. The only bright spots have been the impressive performances of Mainoo and Garnacho."
Holly, a Liverpool fan, explored the impact that the result could have on the Anfield side. She said: "You cannot afford to waste scoring opportunities if you want to win a league title. We lacked composure in front of the goal and while creating chances. We needed to slow things down at important moments and make the right passes. I feel we got caught up in chaotic football, and even the most biased United fan would agree that they were lucky to earn a draw."
