A pivotal night for both sides

Leeds may have to settle for a play-off place. However, it was a joyous night for Marti Cifuentes' Hoops who are now seven points clear of the relegation zone and have moved up to 16th place.

EFL: Who's getting promoted to the Premier League?

The home side was down in 23rd position in the table, and they had lost six consecutive games when their current boss took over as coach from Gareth Ainsworth at the end of October. After a difficult period before and after Christmas, the R's have won nine matches and only lost four since mid-January, allowing them to escape from danger.

 Some of the best reaction

Oliver, a Leeds United fan, told us: "That is disappointing, but given we were at the start of the season, Farke has done a great job, and the players have given their all. Keep the faith. At least there's a potential trip to Wembley to look forward to."

QPR's Isaac Hayden tweeted: "What a way to end the season at home, thank you for your fantastic support this season and especially for me from when I joined, it’s been a pleasure to play for your club. Safety secured, one final game to go to continue the momentum going into next season."

Paul Smyth posted on the same platform: "What a way to finish off our last home game. Huge win and incredible support throughout the whole season! See you in Coventry!"

Asmir Begovic added: "That was a very special night at Loftus Road to mark our last home game of the season. Incredible performance by the boys, and thank you to our fans for the amazing support over the this season!"

There was some keen watchers in Leicester

When Leicester City were relegated last term, it brought an end to a decade of unparalleled success for the Foxes. Just seven years earlier, they had won an almost unfathomable Premier League title under Claudio Ranieri. In 2021, they lifted the FA Cup for the first and only time in their history. This promotion marks a quick recovery even if there is still some uncertainty.

Their official Twitter account also tweeted a cheeky little dig at their promotion rivals.

Tom, a Leicester fan, told us: "Just glad we're back in the Premier League now. The Championship is a tough league and it wasn't a certainty that we'd get promoted."
