Scotland: Celtic battle to win

 Celtic 2 - 1 St Mirren

Hyeon-Gyu Oh made a crucial contribution as he emerged from the bench to secure a comeback victory for Celtic in a hard-fought match against St Mirren.

In the early stages, Conor McMenamin scored to put Stephen Robinson's St Mirren team in the lead, but David Turnbull's precise strike from outside the penalty area leveled the score.

Turnbull had a penalty miss just before halftime, but with only seven minutes remaining, Oh scored a goal past Zach Hemming, securing all three points and preserving Celtic's top position in the Scottish Premiership. St Mirren remains in third place.

This wasn't the best performance from Celtic. However, it could prove to be a vital win. You can see the highlights in the video below. Footage from SPFL YouTube.

One YouTuber commented: "We have a good squad of players and BR (Brendan Rodgers) is getting the best out of them all it seems. Week after week we are getting better and it’s a long season!"

Fan reaction

Seam, a Celtic fan from Glasgow, told us: "We had a sluggish beginning – we were way too passive, lacked aggression both on and off the ball, and they rightfully took the lead.

"But then, we cranked up the tempo. We knew they were well-coached and would have their moments, but we persevered. We had opportunities to take the lead, including a missed penalty, and that's an area where we, as a team, need to step up.

"In the second half, we kept pushing, and the substitutes came in and made the impact we were hoping for. That's the kind of us fans love to see!"

Gavin, a St Mirren, gave his thoughts on the performance: "The outcome might be disappointing, but we won't dwell on the negatives for too long. We'll focus on building upon the positives we showcased.

"Sure, there's a significant difference in club stature, but in terms of our playing squad, there's not a massive gap. When we stay organized and maintain discipline, we can unleash our true ability.

"Zach Hemming pulled off three or four incredible saves, and we had our chances to snatch an equaliser. It was a real battle out there!"
