FA Cup: Dagenham & Redbridge 0 - 1 Salford City

Salford City avoided an FA Cup upset as they narrowly beat side Dagenham and Redbridge

Salford took a third-minute lead when Jordan Turnbull powerfully headed in from a left-wing corner. The scoreline remained at 1-0 and the League Two side are now just one game away from a potential match against the likes of Manchester United. Who will Gary Neville support if the team he co-owns faces the team he spent his entire career at?

They have never made it into the third round of the FA Cup, also losing in the second round in 2015-16. So further progress would mean history from the club.

More reaction

After the match, Salford's official Twitter account posted: "Thank you to Dagenham & Redbridge for your hospitality, and best wishes for the remainder of your season."

Another Salford City fan told us: "It wasn't the best performance from us. However, we are through to the next round and this is the main thing."

A special page dedicated to the FA Cup

The home side posted: "The Daggers bow out of the Emirates FA Cup with a gutsy performance in a 1-0 loss to League Two side Salford City. "

One fan replied by saying: "A great performance tonight but yet another soft goal from a cross. When will finally admit we are desperate for a strong defender who can clear out a cross? Probably too late to get us into the Play-offs which is such a waste. This should be a number one priority."
