For Everton v Arsenal - October 2002

A 16-year-old Rooney justified the hype around him with a stunning strike against Arsenal at Goodison Park. He brilliantly controlled a long ball outside the area, turned and then curled a shot past England goalkeeper David Seaman that went in off the underside of the bar. It ended Arsenal's long unbeaten run and sent the Everton fans wild.

For Manchester United v Newcastle - April 2005

After an interesting two seasons at his boyhood club, Rooney ended a long transfer saga by signing for United in August 2004.He immediately started to justify the fee that United paid Everton for him with a hat-trick on debut against Fenerbahce. It was a fantastic volley against Newcastle was the highlight of his first season at Old Trafford. How good was this goal?

For England v Russia - October 2007

Another great Rooney volley. This one was for his country in a Euro 2008 qualifier against Russia. His future teammate Michael Owen flicked on a long ball and Rooney controlled on his chest. He then lashed a great shot into the roof of the net from 18 yards.

His best Manchester United goal? This incredible Rooney moment came at a time when he was in a relatively poor run of form. For DC United v Orlando City - June 2019

After a wonderful career, Wayne Rooney moved to the United States where he signed for DC United. This goal came in the 10th minute of a game against Orlando City. He picked up the ball in his own half and saw the Orlando goalkeeper Brian Rowe way off his line. He proceeded to drive the ball over Rowe and was then promptly mobbed by his DC teammates.
