Carlos Tevez to Manchester City in 2009

This was a strange one. Tevez had spent the previous two seasons at Old Trafford, where he won the Premier League twice and the Champions League in 2008. The Argentinian had claimed he was never offered a new contract at United. He was the latest signing to join the ongoing revolution across the city. City announced the transfer with this cheeky poster. How good was Carlos Tevez at Manchester City?

Michael Owen to Manchester United in 2009

The former Liverpool striker signed for United in 2009 after being released by recently relegated Newcastle United. It was a strange summer for MUFC after they sold Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid and saw their attempt to sign Carlos Tevez on a permanent contract fail. 

Robin van Persie to Manchester United in 2012

United lost the title on goal difference so Sir Alex Ferguson went and signed one of the best strikers in world football. United won the title back and the Dutch striker played a huge part in this. Just how good was he at Old Trafford, watch some of his best moments in the video below.

Sol Campbell to Arsenal in 2001

Now, this was also a big one. Around the time of the transfer, he was linked with some of Europe's leading clubs, Campbell signed for Arsenal to boost his international prospects at a time when there was a lot of good English defenders. At the time, Campbell said to the media: "I spent a lot of years at Tottenham and while I was there I played my heart out and tried everything to help move the team in the right direction."

Luis Figo to Real Madrid in 2000

A transfer saga that is still spoken about by Real Madrid and Barcelona fans. During his time in Barcelona, he managed to have great success. He won La Liga twice, the Copa del Rey: twice and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1997. 

After he signed for Real Madrid, he would go onto win La Liga twice and most famously the Champions League in 2002. Figo formed one element of a Real Madrid side that also involved the likes of Zidane, Beckham and Ronaldo.

During their financial problems, Leeds United had to sell a number of key players. This involved Rio Ferdinand to Manchester United. Despite not having a huge impact at the club, in the end, Manchester City signing Emmanuel Adebayor was controversial at the time. Very few people will ever forget that celebration at City's stadium back in August 2009.

FA Cup: United win on penalties

 Manchester United 3 - 3 Coventry City Manchester United won 4-2 on penalties  United somehow progressed to the FA Cup final for the second successive season, following a dramatic semi-final victory over Coventry City. The Reds edged past the Sky Blues on penalties after a crazy and eventful 120 minutes to set up a rematch of last year's final, against Manchester City. Following goals from Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes, United appeared to be in total and complete control. Despite having a few chances, it did look like this was one match too far for Coventry. However, goals Ellis Simms and O'Hare reduced the deficit and made things very nervy for Ten Hag's side. Then in stoppage time, Haji Wright kept his nerve in stoppage time to score from the spot and send the game into extra time. Premier League: Another strange performance from Manchester United

Manchester United 1 - 1 Burnley Zeki Amdouni scored a late penalty to grab what could he a priceless point for relegation-threatened Burnley in the Premier League at Old Trafford. Despite another unconvincing display from Manchester United, they did look well set for victory thanks to Antony's well-taken 79th-minute effort. Then Burnley got a penalty  Although the referee John Brooks managed to miss the foul in real time, unlike against Wolves the video assistant referee, Peter Bankes, stepped in. Substitute Amdouni managed to send the keeper the wrong way and earn Burnley this point  This result moved Burnley to within two points of fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest, whom they play at Turf Moor on the final day of the season.  There could still be a dramatic fight for survival with Burnley, Luton and Forest all scrambling to avoid relegation to the Championship.  You can watch the highlights of the match in the video below.
