Lionel Messi now plays for PSG. Very few people would have anticipated him ever leaving Barcelona but here we are.

At 16 years, four months, and 23 days old, Messi made his first team debut when he came on in the 75th minute during a friendly against José Mourinho's Porto in November 2003. His career has been extraordinary. Let's take a look at some of his best moments. 

April 18, 2007

Messi emulates fellow Diego Maradona with this amazing goal, ghosting through half of Getafe’s side while his teammates could only watch in awe. It was at this time when people started to talk about him being one of the world's best. How good is this goal? See Messi at his best by watching the video below. Some have argued that this is his best goal. 

May 2, 2009 

Messi scores twice in a 6-2 thrashing of Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in one of the most lopsided matches between the two clubs.. Messi scored a second goal after exchanging several passes with Xavi Hernández inside the box before he uses a feint to freeze Iker Casillas and fired home.

Messi hangs in the air to meet Xavi’s cross and send his header floating over Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar to seal Barcelona’s 2-0 victory in the 2009 Champions League final. An extraordinary season saw Messi and Barcelona win La Liga alongside Europe's premier competition.



April 27, 2011 

Messi gets the ball just past the centre circle and with no other Barcelona player near him decides to take on Real Madrid’s defense all by himself. He dribbled past several defenders before beating Iker Casillas to cap a 2-0 victory and set Barca on their way to the 2011 Champions League final. They would ultimately go and triumph against Manchester United again after a memorable night at Wembley. There was another great goal from Messi in that final. 

May 6, 2015 

Messi humbled Bayern Munich with two goals in a 3-0 win in the Champions League semifinals. Messi chips his second goal over Manuel Neuer after he sends defender Jerome Boateng tumbling to the turf with a brutally quick change of direction. The season would ultimately end in more glory for Barcelona and the Argentinian.

May 1, 2019 

Messi scored the 600th career goal from a free kick to complete a double against Liverpool in the first leg of the 2019 Champions League semi-final. Messi’s missile from 35 yards out sails into the top left corner to cap the 3-0 victory. He won't like to talk about the second leg though.

In August 2021, Lionel Messi played his first club match as a PSG player. He entered the pitch as a 66th minute substitute for Paris Saint-Germain against Reims. After the match, Mauricio Pochettino said these simple words: "I am very happy to have him. He is a gift.”
