Premier League: Watford hold Everton

Image
Watford 0-0 Everton A much-changed Watford side earned a 0-0 draw against Everton. In a poor game, Chances were few and far between for both teams throughout. Samuel Kalu and Moussa Sissoko were among those most likely to break the deadlock in yellow. A point against the Toffees marks the end of an 11-game losing streak at home for Watford, who have already been relegated to the Championship. Due to several injuries, manager Roy Hodgson was forced to make several changes to the starting eleven that had lined up at Crystal Palace last time out. Three academy scholars were named on the bench for their first taste of Premier League action. Everton, who still need every point they can get to help their bid for survival, named their strongest possible team. In terms of the action, Michael Keane was fortunate that his miskick around the edge of the Everton danger area bobbled safely to goalkeeper Jordan Pickford a minute later, and then Kalu again posed a threat but just couldn’t quite

PL: Everton and Burnley boost survival chances

You can read more about that here.  PL: Norwich relegated (eurosuperfootball.blogspot.com)   Then Burnley picked up a hugely important three points with win over Watford. Burnley scored two goals in the final seven minutes to complete a comeback that pulled them five points clear of the Premier League relegation zone. It also left hosts Watford on the brink of the drop. Jack Cork's header from Charlie Taylor's left-wing cross cancelled out James Tarkowski's early own goal. Josh Brownhill equalised after he found the bottom corner from the edge of the box to spark jubilant scenes among the travelling fans and in the away dugout at Vicarage Road. Watford had previously taken the lead when Juraj Kucka's fierce effort struck the crossbar before reb

PL: Everton boost survival hopes

Image
Everton 1 - 0 Manchester United Everton picked up a priceless victory in their battle to avoid relegation as a poor Manchester United were beaten. The Toffees were plunged into crisis when they lost at fellow strugglers Burnley in midweek to leave them facing the prospect of dropping into the bottom three this weekend if results went against them. In a game low on quality but high in tension, Everton's victory came courtesy of Anthony Gordon's 27th-minute drive, which took a heavy deflection off United captain Harry Maguire to leave keeper David de Gea wrong-footed. Everton keeper Jordan Pickford made two early saves from Marcus Rashford and a vital late block from Cristiano Ronaldo. However, there was rarely any sense of siege as United lacked urgency. They failed to break through. This was another blow to their hopes of making the Champions League. You can watch the highlights of the match in the video below. Deadline Day: Everton sign Donny van de Beek on loan

Image
Everton have announced the signing of Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek on loan until the end of the season. The Dutch midfielder has been allowed to leave Old Trafford by interim boss Ralf Rangnick after struggling for game time. However, Van de Beek has elected to link up with Frank Lampard, who was recently confirmed as Chelsea manager. Back in July, he was also linked with a move to Barcelona. Since signing for Manchester United in 2020, Van de Beek has struggled at the club. He has appeared in only 50 matches, with the vast majority coming from the bench. Several United fans have repeatedly questioned his lack of involvement in the team. Perhaps, a temporary move to Everton will allow him to kick start his Premier League career? PL: Pressure builds on Rafael Benítez

Everton 2-3 Brighton Brighton have piled more pressure on Rafael Benitez as they climbed to eighth in the Premier League with victory at Goodison Park. Alexis Mac Allister scored a third-minute opener for the visitors following Neal Maupay's cushioned header and Dan Burn headed in when unmarked at the back post to double the lead just before the half-hour mark. The returning Dominic Calvert-Lewin had the chance to respond from the penalty spot. However, he fired his spot-kick over. Half-time was met by thousands of boos from home fans. Gordon gave his side hope of a fightback with a deflected shot eight minutes after half-time. Allan drew a superb save from Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez as Everton chased an equaliser but Mac Allister's excellent second put the away side back in control. Gordon scored a second with 14 minutes remaining. This made for a tense finish, but he was not able to complete his hat-trick with a late chance. The Toffees remain in 15th position. Th

Chelsea missed a chance to close the gap on leaders Manchester City as a depleted Everton side earned a fantastic point. Mason Mount gave Chelsea a deserved lead after 70 minutes. The England midfielder placed a calm finish past Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford following Reece James' pass. A very interesting evening at Stamford Bridge Everton shocked the European champions by equalising four minutes later. The 19-year-old defender Jarrad Branthwaite converted at the back post after Anthony Gordon's free-kick. Chelsea carried on having the chances to win it but the winning goal never came. Thiago Silva had a great opportunity but saw his powerful header superbly saved by Pickford. It was an impressive performance from the England international as he also kept out attempts from Christian Pulisic, James, Jorginho and Mount when the score was 0-0. He has come in for some criticism this season from Everton fans and beyond. Any questions about his ability were answered tonight

Premier League reaction: Manchester United 1 - 1 Everton

Let's have a look at the best reaction from Old Trafford as Manchester United dropped two points Watch the highlights from the match in the video below YouTube comments As always, hundreds of people commented on Manchester United's YouTube channel. One fan was highly critical of United's performance: "No words anymore, 2 years defending the man but you just can’t anymore. This McFred nonsense is haunting us and it’s destroying any chance of success. Please Ole just don’t use these 2 and you might save your position here!" This other fan had similar criticisms: "Even though we know Fred made a mistake, but look at how Shaw just ran away from his position. Lindelof was winning that challenge but Shaw disrupted it. Shaw was equally as bad as Fred was in this game. This is not the first time it's happening. Shaw does this a lot."
