Transfer Rumours: Man United interested in Olise

Image
Another day. Another week. Another Manchester United transfer rumour. Michael Olise is gifted with game-changing qualities that would benefit Manchester United. The Crystal Palace winger also has admirers within the hierarchy at Chelsea and Newcastle United. You can see some of his best moments in the video below. The footage is from the Top Striker YouTube account and gives you a real indication of why the Premier League's biggest clubs are interested in him. Why are United interested? It was his performance in the 4-0 victory over Erik ten Hag’s side that cemented Olise’s reputation as one of the most exciting talents in the Premier League. He scored twice and was a threat that United could not contain in that thrashing at Selhurst Park. With Jadon Sancho expected to leave permanently this summer, there could well be space within the squad for another attacking player.  Premier League: Summer 2024 news and stories (eurosuperfootball.blogspot.com) Premier League: Crystal Pala

FA Cup: United win on penalties

Image
Manchester United 3 - 3 Coventry City Manchester United won 4-2 on penalties  United somehow progressed to the FA Cup final for the second successive season, following a dramatic semi-final victory over Coventry City. The Reds edged past the Sky Blues on penalties after a crazy and eventful 120 minutes to set up a rematch of last year's final, against Manchester City. Following goals from Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes, United appeared to be in total and complete control. Despite having a few chances, it did look like this was one match too far for Coventry. However, goals Ellis Simms and O'Hare reduced the deficit and made things very nervy for Ten Hag's side. Then in stoppage time, Haji Wright kept his nerve in stoppage time to score from the spot and send the game into extra time. Many Manchester United fans were furious at this point.  Disgraceful performance from #mufc https://t.co/sibOvrXJB0 pic.twitter.com/dPV06sMrkJ — Jay Dee (@JDESFNews)

FA Cup: United and Liverpool play out a classic

Image
Manchester United 4 - 3 Liverpool Manchester United secured their spot in the FA Cup semi-final after a dramatic 4-3 victory over Liverpool at Old Trafford. Before the game, everyone was talking about how strong Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool team was, but from the start, it was United who came out swinging with some serious attacking moves. Just 10 minutes in, Alejandro Garnacho took a shot that got deflected, Caoimhin Kelleher tried to save it, but it ended up right in the path of Scott McTominay. Old Trafford erupted.  Liverpool fought back hard , and just before halftime, they managed to sneak in a couple of goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah, putting them at half-time. The second half was tense, with both teams hunting for that next crucial goal. It wasn't until the home side made some attacking changes, thanks to Ten Hag's tactical moves, that the home side started to put some pressure. They finally found the equaliser. Antony, coming off the bench, save

Premier League: Sheffield United shock Luton Town

Luton Town 1 - 3 Sheffield United Sheffield United clinched their first away win of the season in style, triumphing 3-1 over Luton. It was Cameron Archer’s moment of brilliance with a sensational solo goal, coupled with James McAtee’s successful penalty, that saw United take a commanding 2-0 lead into halftime. Despite Luton’s Carlton Morris narrowing the deficit with a penalty of his own, United remained resolute, securing the win with Vinicius Souza’s remarkable strike, marking his debut goal for the club. Chris Wilder ’s astute tactical changes paid dividends, with Archer, Gustavo Hamer, Jack Robinson, and Ben Osborn stepping up admirably in the absence of Ben Brereton Diaz , Andre Brooks, Auston Trusty, and Will Osula, respectively. Premier League: United and Spurs play out pulsating draw

Image
Manchester United 2 - 2 Tottenham Hotspur Spurs came back from behind twice in a pulsating Premier League encounter to deny Manchester United what would have been a very important victory.  Rasmus Hojlund drove United into a third-minute lead. Richarlison then levelled with his sixth goal in as many Premier League games for the visitors. Tottenham were without three players, including captain Son Heung-min - who is away with South Korea at the Asian Cup. Marcus Rashford took the lead for the home team before halftime , but Rodrigo Bentancur nullified the advantage a minute into the second half with a powerful shot. This marked his first goal since April, overcoming a cruciate knee ligament injury and an ankle problem during that period. For new co-owner Jim Ratcliffe , who was seated alongside Sir Alex Ferguson in the directors' box, the rest of the match served as a learning experience. Manchester United had less than 40% possession, managed only nine shots compared to Totten

Transfer News: Manchester United sign Rasmus Hojlund

Image
Another new signing for Manchester United The £72m (£64 million plus 8 million of add-ons) signing of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta has been completed by the club. Having joined the Serie A side in 2022, the 20-year-old scored 10 goals in 34 appearances last season. After suffering a small injury during pre-season training with Atalanta, Hojlund will miss the beginning of the 2023-24 season. United kick off the campaign against Wolves on Monday 14th August. This means United will probably start the season with Rashford playing in that more central role.  He was presented to the United fans before their friendly win against Lens. Before Manchester United's friendly with Lens, which ended in a 3-1 victory for the Red Devils, Hojlund received a rapturous reception when he walked out of the players' tunnel. As a result of his presence, a Danish TV crew flew in to cover the event. Last week, Manchester Super News explored the potential impact of the new signing:  Football News:

Dimitar Berbatov - Tottenham to Manchester United in 2008 Earlier on this dramatic deadline day, it had appeared that Manchester City were going to shatter United's hopes after they had a bid of more than 20 million pounds accepted by Tottenham. Premier League: Bad start for Man United

Manchester United 1 - 2 Brighton & Hove Albion Brighton survived an onslaught to secure a first win at Old Trafford and condemn Erik ten Hag to a losing start as Manchester United manager. Pascal Gross' first-half double stunned the home supporters, who were desperate to see their team put a miserable end to last season behind them. United were outplayed in the opening period by Graham Potter's side, who beat them 4-0 at the Amex Stadium in May on their way to a ninth-placed finish in the Premier League, their highest in history. Brighton would ultimately go home happy again. Not even the second-half introduction of Cristiano Ronaldo could deny the away side. United did threaten a comeback when a scramble inside the visitors' box ended with Alexis Mac Allister turning the ball into his own net after goalkeeper Robert Sanchez had touched it into his path under pressure from several United players. Premier League: Man United battle to win over Leeds

Leeds United 0 - 2 Manchester United The Red Devils scored twice in the final 10 minutes at Elland Road to leave Leeds deep in relegation trouble. Three days on from Marcus Rashford netting the Red Devils' first goal as they came back from 2-0 down at home to secure a Premier League draw, he broke the deadlock when he rose to meet Luke Shaw's curling cross to head past Illan Meslier for his 21st goal of a superb season. Alejandro Garnacho then outpaced the home defence before beating Meslier at his near post to the joy of Erik ten Hag. Many pundits have argued that the result was harsh on Leeds. They created a number of opportunities but could not beat David de Gea. Reaction The United boss told MUTV: "We made changes to avoid fatigue. We are the only team in Europe to be in four competitions, so we have to rotate, but we also have to use the group from a tactical point of view. I think that's what wins the game."  One fan told us: "Maguire & Malacia
