FA Cup: United avoid upset in Wales

Image
Newport County 2 - 4 Manchester United Newport County's FA Cup journey came to an end in the Fourth Round, with Manchester United securing a 4-2 victory at Rodney Parade. It was so nearly a huge upset though.  The Red Devils took control early on, with goals from Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo (his first for the club) within the first twelve minutes. Bryn Morris's late first-half strike and Will Evans' equaliser for County just after the restart kept the game alive.  However, late finishes from Antony and Rasmus Højlund secured United's place in the next round of the competition where they will face an away match against Forest or Bristol City. Premier League: United and Spurs play out pulsating draw

Image
Manchester United 2 - 2 Tottenham Hotspur Spurs came back from behind twice in a pulsating Premier League encounter to deny Manchester United what would have been a very important victory.  Rasmus Hojlund drove United into a third-minute lead. Richarlison then levelled with his sixth goal in as many Premier League games for the visitors. Tottenham were without three players, including captain Son Heung-min - who is away with South Korea at the Asian Cup. Marcus Rashford took the lead for the home team before halftime , but Rodrigo Bentancur nullified the advantage a minute into the second half with a powerful shot. This marked his first goal since April, overcoming a cruciate knee ligament injury and an ankle problem during that period. For new co-owner Jim Ratcliffe , who was seated alongside Sir Alex Ferguson in the directors' box, the rest of the match served as a learning experience. Manchester United had less than 40% possession, managed only nine shots compared to Totten

Premier League: United battle to hold Liverpool

Image
Liverpool 0 - 0 Manchester United Manchester United provided a much-needed boost to manager Erik ten Hag's morale by securing a hard-fought draw against Liverpool at Anfield.  This came at a crucial time when the team was grappling with a sense of crisis following a heavy home defeat to Bournemouth and a lacklustre Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich . Despite facing adversity and an injury-hit squad, United managed to halt their recent decline, albeit with a less-than-stellar performance.  The match, marred by mediocrity, saw Diogo Dalot being sent off for dissent in stoppage time. Nevertheless, Ten Hag had reasons to smile, contrasting with the disappointment felt by Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp, whose team missed an opportunity to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League. United goalkeeper Andre Onana made a crucial save in the first half, denying Virgil van Dijk, while Rasmus Hojlund had a promising chance in the second half, only to be thwarted by Liverp

Premier League: An awful Saturday for Manchester United

Image
Manchester United 0-3 Bournemouth Dominic Solanke's early strike set the stage for Bournemouth's historic triumph at Old Trafford, intensifying the scrutiny on beleaguered Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag. Bournemouth secured their first victory at Old Trafford with second-half headers from Philip Billing and Marcos Senesi within a five-minute span, marking a memorable milestone in the club's history. United faced the prospect of an even more dismal outcome, but a late goal by substitute Dango Ouattara was disallowed by the video assistant referee for handball during stoppage time. This defeat comes just three days ahead of United's crucial Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, a match they must win to advance to the last 16. It compounds the woes for Ten Hag, who recently received the Premier League's Manager of the Month award. With seven defeats in 16 league games and an equal number of losses and wins in all competitions, United's form has b

Premier League: Garnacho stunner helps United to another win

Everton had several chances to level the score in the first half, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin being the main threat. However, United's goalkeeper Andre Onana made crucial saves, and Garnacho's goal remained the only highlight of the first half. United introduced 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo, who made a clearance off the line. Everton's missed opportunities proved costly as Ashley Young was judged to have fouled Anthony Martial in the box, leading to Marcus Rashford confidently converting the penalty. Although Fernandes typically takes penalties for Unite

WSL: Man United thrash West Ham

Adding to the lead, centre-back Millie Turner doubled the advantage with a remarkable strike from the edge of the area, navigating through the West Ham midfield. The first half proved challenging for West Ham, losing key players to injuries, and Nikita Parris further widened the gap by converting an Ella Toone through-ball, bringing the score to 3-0. While West Ham made efforts to bounce back in the second half, with Emma Harries, Amber Tysiak, and Riko Ueki having attempts saved, their endeavours were in vain. Icons: Sir Bobby Charlton

Everyone at European Super Football was saddened yesterday by the passing of the legendary Sir Bobby Charlton.  This article will explore his fantastic career. A brief summary Sir Bobby spent most of his club career at Manchester United, scoring 249 goals. It was only in 2017 that Wayne Rooney beat him as United's most prolific goalscorer. In terms of trophies, he won the First Division on three occasions and the Fa Cup in 1963. His crowning glory came in 1968 when he scored twice in their European Cup Final win against Benfica. His last game for United was against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on 28 April 1973. Before the game, the BBC cameras for Match of the Day captured the Chelsea chairman handing him a commemorative cigarette case. Coincidentally, this day also marked his brother Jackie's last appearance for Leeds. The impact of Munich After bursting onto the scene at Manchester United in the 1950s, tragedy struck. Premier League: McTominay rescues Manchester United

Image
Manchester United 2 - 1 Brentford Manchester United pulled off a stunning comeback victory against Brentford at Old Trafford, with Scott McTominay emerging as the hero in stoppage time.  Initially, it seemed like Manchester United might suffer their third consecutive home league defeat for the first time since 1979, all thanks to Mathias Jensen's first-half goal. McTominay was a late substitute, coming on with only three minutes left on the clock as manager Erik ten Hag desperately searched for a lifeline. And the Scottish midfielder delivered spectacularly. He displayed impeccable control before slamming the ball into the net when Kristoffer Ajer mishandled a clearance inside his penalty area for the first goal. Then, following a save from Anthony Martial's low shot by Thomas Strakosha, McTominay reacted swiftly to a Harry Maguire flick and netted the priceless second goal. A turning point for Manchester United? The home fans continued their jubilation long after the fina

UCL: Man United's struggles continue

Manchester United 2 - 3 Galatasaray  Manchester United have endured a tough run of form this season.  It took a turn for the worse  as they suffered a defeat to Galatasaray in the Champions League at Old Trafford. Mauro Icardi delivered a crucial blow in the 81st minute, securing the Turkish giants their historic first-ever victory on English soil. Despite missing an earlier penalty opportunity to put the visitors in front at Old Trafford, Icardi showed his clinical side by capitalizing on Davinson Sanchez's header, lofting a shot past United's goalkeeper Andre Onana. This marked United's sixth loss in 10 games this season, with the team now facing its second defeat in the opening two matches of Group A in the Champions League. Adding to the woes of their manager, Erik ten Hag, his team had twice taken the lead thanks to goals from Rasmus Hojlund in both halves. On both occasions, Galatasaray responded swiftly to level the score. Furthermore, the situation escalated when

EFL Cup: United impress against Palace

Image
Manchester United 3 - 0 Crystal Palace Holders United moved into the last 16 of the Carabao Cup after goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Casemiro before Martial's clinical first-time effort 10 minutes after the restart. After a few weeks of chaos, this was the kind of night United manager Erik ten Hag must have wanted as his side clinched their most significant win of the season. With Mason Mount back in the starting XI and fellow summer signing Sofyan Amrabat making his first start, Ten Hag was at least able to integrate some key pieces of his United puzzle. There were also plenty of examples of controlled possession, which Ten Hag has so far struggled to implement. Evidently, the game plan was to create an overload on the United right with lofted cross-field passes from the left, which both Amrabat and Mount were able to execute. Morocco international Amrabat caught the eye as an inverted left-back. The on-loan Fiorentina man's early shot was poor, but he was excellent

UCL: Bayern and United play out a classic

The home crowd turned against manager Erik ten Hag as Manchester United lost 3-1 to Brighton at Old Trafford. United fans have overwhelmingly supported Ten Hag since he arrived last summer, and they have backed him in his dispute with Jadon Sancho. A cacophony of boos rang around the stadium before Ten Hag was applauded off as he replaced new signing Rasmus Hojlund with Anthony Martial 19 minutes into the second period. After the match, United's Dutch manager defended this decision.  🚨🇩🇰 Erik Ten Hag on boos for subbing Hojlund: "It was positive.
