UCL: Spurs lose in Lisbon

Image
Sporting CP 2-0 Spurs Tottenham suffered our first defeat of the season at the Estadio Jose Alvalade on Tuesday. Two late goals gave Sporting Lisbon all three points on matchday two in the UEFA Champions League. In an even and entertaining affair, it looked like the Premier League side was going to leave the Portuguese capital with a share of the spoils having matched the hosts for the majority of the game, only to concede in the 90th minute from a Paulinho header before Arthur Gomes slotted home with virtually the last kick of the game. Both goals came from Sporting substitutes. Picture credit -  Mutsu KAWAMORI | Flickr Both sides started on the front foot wherever possible, Sporting with the first sight of goal on seven minutes when Hugo Lloris pushed a Pedro Goncalves angled shot just past the post. Brazilian duo Richarlison and Emerson Royal had half-chances but neither could get a telling touch on balls into the box and home goalkeeper Adan was able to gather on each occasion

Chelsea 2 - 2 Tottenham Let's have a look at all the reaction after the game of the Premier League so far was played out at Chelsea A superb article in The Guardian said: "For connoisseurs of football managers’ handshakes, this was the reward for those hours of dedication. For everyone else it was the inevitable conclusion to an afternoon that had hit boiling point during a second half of twists, turns and raw vitriol." TUCHEL VS CONTE: ROUND TWO!!! 🤬🤬 pic.twitter.com/XhWuOU4fwD — Sky Sports Premier League (@SkySportsPL) August 14, 2022 Tottenham rescued an undeserved draw through Harry Kane’s deflected header and there was scant chance, given what had passed, that Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte would part ways with smiles and invitations for a post-match beer.  The sight of the pair clashing for a second time after the final whistle, eyes bulging and throats bawling, was astonishing by any measure and will keep the FA’s disciplinarians fully occupied in the e

Manchester City 2 - 3 Tottenham Hotspur Let's have a look at all the reaction after Harry Kane's stoppage-time goal gave Tottenham a stunning victory over Premier League leaders Manchester City. The blues thought they had rescued a point moments earlier when Riyad Mahrez converted a penalty awarded after a VAR review, but there was another twist to come and Kane, predictably, provided it. The Spurs striker, whom City had tried to sign in the summer, rose highest to nod home Dejan Kulusevski's cross in the 95th minute and spark wild celebrations from the travelling fans. ------------ The video below gives an interesting into the day from a Tottenham supporters perspective. ------------ It was a crazy end to a fascinating match that saw Spurs pegged back twice, with City running out of time to find a third equaliser. PL: Southampton put on show of resilience against Tottenham

Image
Southampton 1 - 1 Tottenham Hotspur Southampton held Tottenham to a draw despite playing with 10 men for over 50 minutes at St Mary's. Ralph Hasenhuttl's side started well when James Ward-Prowse cut across a bouncing ball to volley a swerving shot past Hugo Lloris for a superb opener. The home side looked to have undone their great work when Mohammed Salisu fouled Son Heung-min in the box to earn himself a second booking in a short period of time. This allowed Harry Kane to score. In the second 45 minutes, Spurs twice had the ball in the net. Kane saw a strike ruled out by VAR for a narrow offside. Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster was then spared own-goal blushes when it was judged he was fouled by Matt Doherty. Reaction from St Mary's Spurs Head Coach Antonio Conte was annoyed that his side didn't take advantage of the extra man. He told the club's website: “We have to be a bit frustrated for the final result. We’ve played a lot, the last three games against

Premier League: Tottenham Hotspur 0 - 3 Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo was the inspiration behind an excellent Manchester United display against Tottenham Hotspur This provided the perfect response to last week's 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool at Old Trafford that raised questions over Solskjaer's future. Ronaldo made life more comfortable for his boss with a sublime far-post volley from Bruno Fernandes' cross. This was followed by a slide-rule pass to set up Edinson Cavani for a second. Marcus Rashford wrapped things up with a cool finish just four minutes from time as Spurs fans erupted in fury against Nuno and their chairman Daniel Levy. Towards the ground, Spurs fans started chanting"we want Levy out." Tottenham manager Nuno has been struggling to win over supporters but the atmosphere inside this vast arena turned very angry as they slipped tamely to defeat here. They were already in a grim mood before their boss made the highly-contentious decision to replace Moura with Bergwijn nine minutes after the break. Ch
