Image
Let's explore the new manager of Manchester United Early days in management In 2012, Ten Hag was appointed as manager of Go Ahead Eagles in the Eerste Divisie by Marc Overmars, who was a shareholder of the club. His final match as Bayern Munich II head coach was in May 2015. Perhaps interestingly, he was at Bayer the same time as the current Manchester City manager. Ten Hag then became the Sporting Director and head coach of FC Utrecht in the summer of 2015, where he led the club to fifth place during his first season. In the 2016–17 season, he improved FC Utrecht's final position to fourth, booking a place in the Europa League qualifiers. Moving to AFC Ajax On 21 December 2017, he was appointed as the head coach of AFC Ajax after the club dismissed Marcel Keizer. In 2019, he led h

Fans voices: Why do we love football?

Image
A Manchester United tells us of his emotional connection to the club and why he is so frustrated with the current situation. This is the first article of our Fans Voice series. If you want to get involved, please message us on Twitter and we'll respond as soon as possible. My first United game was the last watched by the old Stretford End. We beat Tottenham 3-1 and was mesmerised by the sights and sounds. In the previous weeks, we had thrown away a lead at the top of old First Division and lost the title to Leeds United. My dad knew this would be my first game and thought it would be a title party, sadly he was mistaken. We only had to wait another year to finally clinch the title and we were both there as we celebrated winning the first-ever Premier League. I was slightly older so was able to appreciate things a bit more. Little did my and my dad know though but football was about to change forever. Domination but at what cost? Over the next six years, United would win everyth

Scotland: Champions Celtic win on final day

Image
Celtic 3-2 St Mirren The last game of the season at Celtic Park ended with three points for the champions. Matt O'Riley, Kyogo Furuhashi and Luis Palma all for the hosts. Mark O'Hara had put St Mirren ahead twice as they threatened to try and spoil the party.  Towards the end of the match, Celtic keeper Joe Hart was substituted and the Celtic goalkeeper looked emotional as he made his way from the field in what is believed to be his final league appearance as a professional footballer. During the trophy celebrations, Hart addressed the supporters. He said: "You guys are absolutely phenomenal. You've made me feel so special. Thank you so much for having me." Celtic make changes, but players impress in an entertaining match. UECL: Villa's trophy hopes severely dented

Image
Aston Villa 2 - 4 Olympiakos "Everything that could have gone wrong, did." Those were the words of one Aston Villa fan as their chances of reaching a first European final since 1982 were severely dented against Olympiakos. The star man on the night for the visitors was Ayoub El Kaabi. He scored a hat-trick, netting twice early on. Ollie Watkins then reduced the deficit for Unai Emery's side and Moussa Diaby equalised moments after the interval. Villa Park was rocking at this point, creating an atmosphere that had not been seen at the famous old stadium for many years.  However, Olympiakos roared back into a two-goal lead with a El Kaabi penalty and a deflected strike from Santiago Hezze.  Douglas Luiz missed a late penalty, meaning Villa must overturn a two-goal deficit in the second leg.  The Greek Super League side have actually never reached a major European final. They played without fear and attacking verve as they pressed and harassed Villa into defensive mist

He won the UEFA Nations League with France a few weeks ago. For all his goals, this was the only trophy he has picked up over the last 12 months. Erling Braut Haaland Unless things go drastically wrong for him, the Norwegian forward is going to feature on Ballon d'Or shortli

Wolfsburg then responded as returning captain Alexandra Popp - ruled out of the first leg with a calf injury - set up Jill Roord to make it 1-1 on the night and later headed the visitors in front. A Blackstenius close-range finish was ruled out by VAR shortly into the

The Big Discussion: The Fight for the Soul of Manchester United

Image
The recent news that the Glazer family are selling Manchester United has created a lot of rehashed discussion, enhancing a lot of debates created back when the American family first bought the club.  Twitter user @Heathen1878 explores this and the current state of affairs regarding Manchester United. Warning and disclaimer - The views here are of the writer, not us. He's more than happy to discuss points made on his Twitter.  It was around September 2021 when I arrived back in Manchester for the first time since March 2020. I landed on the morning of Man United's Premier League game against Newcastle. It was also Cristiano Ronaldo's return to the club. I stopped going to Old Trafford in 2005 and have only been back once. I stopped going due to the Glazer takeover and general sadness with the way modern football is going.  It was at this point that I really realised how much United's support had changed over recent times and also wondered what this might mean for t
