Despite not as much money being spent, it was still a busy transfer deadline day across Europe. Premier League transfers It was certainly fairly quiet in the Premier League. Despite appearing to need new signings, Manchester United didn't bring a single player in. Most of the money was spent by teams near the other end of the table.  Newport County 2 - 4 Manchester United Newport County's FA Cup journey came to an end in the Fourth Round, with Manchester United securing a 4-2 victory at Rodney Parade. It was so nearly a huge upset though.  The Red Devils took control early on, with goals from Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo (his first for the club) within the first twelve minutes. Bryn Morris's late first-half strike and Will Evans' equaliser for County just after the restart kept the game alive.  However, late finishes from Antony and Rasmus Højlund secured United's place in the next round of the competition where they will face an away match against Forest or Bristol City.  Chelsea 6 - 1 Middlesborough (Chelsea won 6-2 on aggregate) Chelsea secured their spot in the Carabao Cup final with a 6-2 aggregate victory over Middlesbrough.  After a 1-0 defeat from the first leg, Chelsea turned the tide in this match with four first-half goals . The scoring spree included an own goal from Jonny Howson, along with goals from Enzo Fernandez, Axel Disasi, and Cole Palmer. Palmer netted his second.  Noni Madueke added another in the 81st minute, delighting the Chelsea supporters. Leicester City 1 - 1 Ipswich Town Jeremy Sarmiento scored a late equaliser against Championship leaders Leicester City at the King Power Stadium and guided his Ipswich team back into the coveted automatic promotion spots. Initially, Leicester seemed on the verge of extending their lead by 10 points , courtesy of an own goal by Leif Davis in the first half. The second half had more excitement, featuring Foxes goalkeeper Mads Hermansen's spectacular save from Wes Burns and Kasey McAteer's valiant effort cleared off the line at the other end. When Hermansen could only parry a Massimo Luongo shot in the area, Brighton loanee Sarmiento seized the opportunity, swiftly scoring a shot that eluded the Danish goalkeeper. This marked the second time in four weeks that Ipswich snatched a late draw against Leicester, following a similar feat on Boxing Day at Portman Road.  Sheffield United 2 - 2 West Ham United Sheffield United's Oli McBurnie scored the latest goal in the Premier League, scoring a 103rd-minute penalty to rescue a point for his side against West Ham. Sheffield United were awarded the spot-kick in the eighth minute of added time when Hammers keeper Alphonse Areola was judged to have taken out McBurnie.  Arsenal 5 - 0 Crystal Palace Arsenal revived their pursuit of the Premier League title with an emphatic victory over struggling Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners' aspirations for the top spot had waned towards the close of the previous year, suffering three defeats in their last five Premier League fixtures. However, a rejuvenated Arsenal returned with newfound vigour under the guidance of Mikel Arteta.  Three points were sealed through a Gabriel header, an own goal from Dean Henderson , a composed finish by Leandro Trossard, and two late strikes from Gabriel Martinelli. The first two goals originated from corner kicks, with Gabriel nodding in the opener in the 11th minute. Another set-piece led to the defender's header striking Crystal Palace goalkeeper Henderson, deflecting into the net. Swansea City 1 - 3 Southampton Southampton set a new club record with an unbeaten streak of 21 games, as they secured a 3-1 victory in Russell Martin's return to Swansea City.  The Saints are now well in the race for automatic promotion to the Premier League.  Che Adams opened the scoring just six minutes into the game, slotting home from close range. The momentum continued to shift in Southampton's favour as Will Smallbone tapped in their second goal. However, Swansea managed to pull one back against the run of play with a Jamie Paterson header. The Saints then swiftly regained control, with Flynn Downes' 20-yard drive deflecting into the net. Despite Swansea's late rally , including Jerry Yates and Paterson hitting the woodwork, Southampton comfortably held on to secure three points. This impressive unbeaten run in all competitions surpassed their previous record of a 20-game sequence set in 1921. For Southampton boss Russell Martin, this victory held particular
